Shanghai Masters: Bergs saved two match points to reach his first Masters 1000 quarter-finals

Belgian Zizou Bergs moved into the last 8 of the Shanghai Masters by edging out Canadian Gabriel Diallo, the No 31 seed, 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (8) at the Qi Zhong Tennis Center on Tuesday morning.
It’s the first time that Zizou Bergs has reached the quarter-finals in a Masters 1000 event. He saved two match points in the final tie-break against the Canadian player.
Bergs, ranked No 44, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Jaume Munar and Serb Novak Djokovic, the No 4 seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the Belgian defeated Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 19 seed (7-6 (1), 6-3), Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 11 seed (3-6, 7-5, 4-1 ret.) and American Sebastian Korda (6-4, 7-5).
Diallo, ranked No 35, benefited from the abandonment of Belgian David Goffin (3-0) and won against Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi (6-4, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Shanghai tournament.
