Shanghai Masters: Hurkacz into quarter-finals, edges home favourite Zhang

Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 16 seed, advanced to the last eight of the Shanghai Masters by edging out Chinese Zhizhen Zhang 7-6 (6), 4-6, 7-6 (4) at the Qi Zhong Stadium on Tuesday.
Hurkacz, ranked No 17, will face Hungarian Fabian Marozsan next as he goes into his 11th ATP Masters 1000 quarter-final.
The Pole won against Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis (7-6 (5), 6-4) and qualifier Yu Hsiou Hsu (6-4, 6-4) ahead of his victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Zhang, ranked No 60, beat Frenchman Richard Gasquet (6-1, 6-2), Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 28 seed (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) and American Brandon Nakashima (7-6 (2), 6-2).
