Sinner the winner – a statistical look at the last five months of Jannik Sinner’s career

It has been a whirlwind five months for the Italian juggernaut. After his Rotterdam triumph, we look back at his many milestones

Jannik Sinner has well and truly hit his stride as a top flight talent on the ATP Tour. In numerical format, here’s a look at some of the career-defining milestones he has notched since last October.

4 – After he won the Beijing title last October, Sinner climbed to No 4 in the ATP rankings, becoming the first Italian man to hold a top four ranking since Adriano Panatta in 1976.

1 – When he won the title in Beijing, Sinner became the first Italian man to procure multiple top 5 wins on a hard court at the same event in the Open Era.

2 – Sinner led Team Italy to the 2023 Davis Cup title, defeating Novak Djokovic in the final from match points down. The victory marked Italy’s second Davis Cup triumph, and first since 1976. Sinner won all 5 matches he played across singles and doubles at the Final 8 Knockout Stage in Malaga in November.

1976 – Sinner won his maiden major title at the Australian Open in January, becoming the first Italian man to win a major title since Panatta, 48 years ago in 1976.

22 – At 22 years 165 days of age, Sinner became the youngest Australian Open men’s singles champion since Novak Djokovic in 2008.

200 – This week in Rotterdam Sinner became the first player born after 2000 to claim 200 wins on the ATP Tour.

7- By doing so Sinner became the seventh Italian man to notch 200 wins.

12- By winning his 12th title on Sunday in Rotterdam, Sinner moved into a tie with Sandra Cecchini for most tour-level titles by an Italian man or woman in Open Era history.

10 – Since the start of his run at Beijing last October, Sinner has won 10 of 11 matches against the top 5.

12 – By winning his first 12 matches of 2024, Sinner is the youngest ATP player to start a season 12-0 since Lleyton Hewitt did so in 2000.

3 – By winning the title in Rotterdam, Sinner has risen to a new career-high ranking of No 3 in the world.

1991 – The 22-year-old became the first Italian to take home the title in Rotterdam in 33 years. Omar Camporese was the last Italian to win Rotterdam trophy, in 1991.

15 – Sinner stretched his career-best winning streak to 15 with his win in the final over Alex de Minaur.

32-3 – Since he commenced his run in Beijing last year, Sinner has won 32 of 35 matches.
