Swiss Indoors: Rinderknech moves into second round

French qualifier Arthur Rinderknech edged out Croat Marin Čilić, the No 4 seed, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (5) to reach the second round of the Swiss Indoors at the Halle Saint-Jacques in Basel on Monday evening.
The Frenchman saved a pair of match points with Cilic serving for the win at 5-4, to improve to an impressive 11-3 indoors in 2022.
Rinderknech, ranked No 51, will play the winner of the match between Slovak Alex Molcan and American Mackenzie McDonald next.
