Frenchman Ugo Humbert reached the quarter-finals of the Swiss Indoors by beating Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the No 7 seed, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4) at the Halle Saint-Jacques in Basel on Thursday.
With the win, Humbert reaches his third consecutive quarter-final, having made the final eight in Shanghai and Beijing ahead of this tournament. Next up the world No 28 will face the winner of the match between Swiss wildcard Dominic Stricker and Norwegian Casper Ruud, the second seed, next.
In the previous round of the Basel tournament, the Frenchman edged out American Marcos Giron (6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (3)) while Jarry, ranked No 20, edged out Frenchman Adrian Mannarino (7-6 (6), 6-7 (2), 6-4) in the previous round of the Basel tournament.
