Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the No 7 seed, advanced to the second round of the Swiss Indoors by edging out Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 7-6 (6), 6-7 (2), 6-4 at the Halle Saint-Jacques in Basel.
Jarry, ranked No 20, will play the winner of the match between Frenchman Ugo Humbert and American Marcos Giron next.
