Australian Aleksandar Vukic won against Englishman Cameron Norrie, the No 31 seed, 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-3 to advance to the third round of the Toronto Masters at the Aviva Centre on Wednesda.
Vukic, ranked No 105, will face the winner of the match between American Frances Tiafoe, the No 7 seed, and Japanese qualifier Yosuke Watanuki next.
The Australian defeated Spaniard Pedro Martinez Portero (7-5, 6-3) ahead of his victory.
