Ugo Carabelli second lucky loser into last eight at Rio Open

Lucky loser Camilo Ugo Carabelli advanced to the last eight of the Rio Open by beating Bosnian Damir Dzumhur 6-4, 6-4 at the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday evening.

Ugo Carabelli, ranked No 91, will next face Portugal’s Jaime Faria on Friday. Faria is also a lucky loser.

In the previous round of the Rio tournament, Ugo Carabelli got past Spaniard Pedro Martinez, the No 7 seed (4-6, 6-3, 6-3).

Dzumhur, ranked No 97, defeated Serb Dusan Lajovic 6-3, 6-4 in the opening round.
