Who’s looking hot for the National Bank Open this summer?

Canadian tennis fans have plenty to get excited about this summer as the National Bank Open rolls into town. Victoria Mboko and Félix Auger-Aliassime are leading the charge for the home side, both bringing top-level form and the chance to shine in front of a home crowd. 

All eyes won’t just be on the Canadian players, though. International stars like Carlos Alcaraz, Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Świątek, and Jannik Sinner will be in the mix, making every round highly competitive. For fans wanting to keep track of every serve and swing, all the major sportsbooks including Toonie Bet will be covering the action, ensuring you won’t miss a moment of the summer’s tennis showcase.

Victoria Mboko, only 19, has already made history by reaching world No. 9 in singles, becoming just the fourth Canadian woman ever to crack the WTA top 10. She’s got two WTA Tour singles titles under her belt, including a massive WTA 1000 win at last year’s Canadian Open.

Félix Auger-Aliassime brings a similarly impressive résumé. The 25-year-old is Canada’s top male player and recently reached world No. 5 in the ATP singles rankings. He has nine ATP Tour titles and has helped Canada clinch both the ATP Cup and the Davis Cup. After a few injuries slowed him down in the past, he came back strong in 2025, winning three more titles and making it to another major semifinal.

American stars

American players will also be a major draw this summer, starting with Ben Shelton. The 23-year-old has a booming left-handed serve and a big personality to match. Shelton has climbed as high as No. 5 in the ATP singles rankings and has four ATP Tour titles, including the 2025 Canadian Open. 

Coco Gauff is another American star making waves. At 22, she’s already a two-time Grand Slam champion in singles and a former world No. 1 in doubles. Her rise has been meteoric since she burst onto the scene as a teenager, and she now has 11 singles titles including the 2024 WTA Finals.

Jessica Pegula and Taylor Fritz round out the U.S. contingent. Pegula, 31, is steady and consistent, with ten singles titles and a peak ranking of world No. 3. She’s been a finalist at both the US Open and WTA Finals and has represented the U.S. successfully in team events. 

Fritz, 28, brings power and experience, boasting ten ATP Tour singles titles, including a Masters 1000 at Indian Wells, and a career-high singles ranking of No. 4. 

Biggest names

On the women’s international side, Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus is currently world No. 1. Known for her aggressive style and consistency, she has collected 23 WTA Tour singles titles, including four majors and ten WTA 1000 events. Sabalenka has had remarkable staying power at the top, finishing the last two years as year-end No. 1. 

Poland’s Iga Świątek is another highlight, ranked No. 3 and boasting six major titles, including four French Open wins. Świątek is known for her all-court game and long winning streaks.

Men’s tennis also features some of the biggest names of the current generation. Carlos Alcaraz from Spain is the reigning world No. 1, only 22, with seven major titles already and a Career Grand Slam under his belt. His dynamic style and rapid rise make him a crowd favorite. Italy’s Jannik Sinner, 24, has also reached world No. 1 and added four major titles to his collection, completing the hard-court set in early 2026. 

So this summer, the National Bank Open will showcase a mix of homegrown talent, rising stars, and established champions. Fans are in for an action-packed tournament with no shortage of storylines and thrilling tennis moments.
