Argentinian Sebastian Baez, the No 6 seed, reached the final of the Winston-Salem Open by edging out Croat Borna Coric, the top seed, 6-3, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (2) at Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Friday night.

Baez, ranked No 42, will face No 5 seed Jiri Lehecka next.

The 22-year-old Argentinian defeated Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan (3-6, 6-4, 6-4), Australian Aleksandar Vukic, the No 9 seed (6-4, 4-6, 6-4) and Serb Laslo Djere, the No 4 seed (6-3, 6-0) ahead of his victory.

Earlier in the tournament, Coric, ranked No 29, won against Australian Rinky Hijikata (6-2, 7-6 (2)), American wildcard Michael Mmoh (6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-3) and Argentinian Juan Manuel Cerundolo (6-3, 6-1).
