Argentinian Juan Manuel Cerundolo beat Russian Roman Safiullin 7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-3 to move into the second round of the Winston-Salem Open at Wake Forest Tennis Complex.
Cerundolo, ranked No 103, will play No 10 seed Yannick Hanfmann next.
