American Sebastian Korda, the No 11 seed, reached the last four of the Winston-Salem Open by winning against Serb Miomir Kecmanovic, the No 13 seed, 6-1, 6-4 at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Thursday evening.

“I think it was a great match. We played earlier in the year, so I took a few tactics from that match,” said Korda, who now leads Kecmanovic 2-1 in their head to head. “I thought I executed pretty well, came to net quite a bit and tried to stay aggressive. Miomir is an unbelievable returner, so a high first-serve percentage was crucial today and I think I served pretty well.”

Korda, ranked No 45, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Jaume Munar, the No 12 seed, and Hungarian Marton Fucsovics next.

The American edged out Pole Kamil Majchrzak (6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-4) and beat Czech Vit Kopriva (6-3, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.

In the previous rounds of the Winston-Salem tournament, Kecmanovic, ranked No 49, won against Italian Luciano Darderi, the No 3 seed (6-3, 6-1) and American Aleksandar Kovacevic (6-4, 7-6 (5)).
