Australian Open: Passaro through to second round as Dimitrov retires injured
Francesco Passaro benefited from the abandonment of Grigor Dimitrov (7-5, 2-1) on Monday night and will play the winner of the match between Belgian David Goffin and Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi in the next round
Italian lucky loser Francesco Passaro advanced to the second round of the Australian Open when Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 10 seed, retired at Melbourne Park.
Passaro, ranked No 104, led 7-5, 2-1 when Dimitrov, ranked No 10, pulled out at Melbourne Park on Monday night.
The Italian will face the winner of the match between Belgian David Goffin and Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi next.
