Dizzy and seeing spots, Auger-Aliassime leaves the US Open without an explanation
Felix Auger-Aliassime says he was dizzy and seeing spots a set and a half into his second-round defeat, that he had never felt anything like it and that nothing warned him. The Canadian No. 3 seed thought about retiring, chose to finish, and left New York with tests to run and no explanation.
Sweeny, ranked No. 123, puts out Musetti and reaches a first Grand Slam third round
Dane Sweeny lost the first set to Lorenzo Musetti and then took eighteen of the next twenty-three games, beating last year's quarter-finalist 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2. The Australian wild card, ranked No. 123, is into the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time, and Musetti is the fifth seed to leave this draw before the weekend.

Felix Auger-Aliassime was a US Open semi-finalist a year ago and is out in the second round, beaten 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 by Karen Khachanov after winning just 41% of his second-serve points. The 750 points that disappear with him leave Cobolli, Medvedev, De Minaur, Shelton, Fritz and Tiafoe with ground to make up that has just got shorter.
Keys saves five match points, Osaka reaches 80 Grand Slam wins, Swiatek and Anisimova advance
Madison Keys was five match points from going out of the US Open and won 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (5) against Anna Bondar, for the 35th win of her career at this tournament. Naomi Osaka and Amanda Anisimova also needed three sets on Thursday evening, Osaka reaching 80 Grand Slam main-draw wins in the process, while Iga Swiatek dropped nine games and made it 27 consecutive majors without an early exit.
