While one of the Big Four made tennis history, another was starting his grass-court season in solid style.

Andy Murray opted to skip Roland-Garros after some tough matches during the clay-court swing, although he had previously said he wanted to play in Paris as he did not know if he would get another chance. He had played only one of the previous five French Opens, and there he lost in the first round.

Instead, he switched his attention to grass, having said that he still hoped he would be able to compete at the highest level for the Wimbledon title.

And after a few days off, the 36-year-old headed to Surbiton to win his second ATP Challenger title of the year, beating Jurij Rodionov 6-3, 6-2 in a rain-interrupted final.

It is his first title in Britain and his first grass-court singles title since 2016, the year he last won Wimbledon.
