Carlos Alcaraz and Paula Badosa will represent Spain in the revived format of the Hopman Cup, due to be held in Nice from 19 to 23 July.

Two other teams were also announced: France’s Richard Gasquet and Alize Cornet, and Switzerland’s Leandro Riedi and Belinda Bencic.

This is the first time the Hopman Cup has been held since 2019, but the basic format remains the same: one men’s singles, one women’s singles, and a mixed doubles match.

Six teams will compete this year and next, with an expansion to eight teams from 2025 onwards. France are guaranteed a spot as hosts.

Former French Open champion and Hopman Cup tournament director Iva Majoli said to the official press conference: “The Hopman Cup is an incredible competition. A unique competition because you play for your country, you play as a team and you play as a mixed team. This is quite rare on the circuit. I have great memories of playing the event in 1996 with my friend Goran Ivanisevic.”
