Moretton returns as French Tennis Federation president

The former world No 65 defeated Germain Roesch to retain the FFT leadership

Gilles Moretton, the former world No 65 in singles and 55 in doubles, has been returned as the French Tennis Federation (FFT) president. Moretton defeated Germain Roesch in the elections held on Saturday.

Moretton received 61.19 percent of the total votes cast by the delegates. He reportedly received 30,381 votes to Roesch’s 19,273 to retain the FFT leadership for four years. He was first appointed as the FFT president in February 2021.

Lors de l'assemblée générale élective de la FFT, la liste "Unis pour notre Fédération", conduite par Gilles Moretton, a obtenu 61,19% des suffrages exprimés par les délégués du tennis français élus par les clubs et des présidents des associations affiliées.

After the win, the 66-year-old took to X (formerly Twitter) and extended gratitude to his supporters:

“This victory is above all that of tennis. I thank the volunteers who run our clubs every day throughout France. They chose us! We can be proud of the work accomplished. From now on, I want to talk about tennis, and continue to bring the values of this sport to life. We will continue the work started four years ago with this team.” (translated)
