Sabalenka and Medvedev headline World Tennis League in December

Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina, Andrey Rublev and Stefanos Tsitsipas have also confirmed their participation in Abu Dhabi

Women’s world No 1 Aryna Sabalenka and men’s world No 3 Daniil Medvedev headline the season two of the World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi in December.

Sabalenka, who won the Australian Open in January, is joined by four-time Grand Slam winner Iga Swiatek and former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina while Medvedev, a former US Open winner, is joined by compatriot Andrey Rublev and Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Season two of the World Tennis League will see 16 players compete in Abu Dhabi from December 21 to 24. More players will be announced in the coming weeks.

Last year, we had a great time on and off the court, and I’m hoping this will help me to prepare for next season.

Sabalenka said she was looking forward to coming back to Abu Dhabi after good memories from Season one. “I’m excited to be returning for this season and really looking forward to seeing who I’ll be joining on court at this year’s World Tennis League. Last year, we had a great time on and off the court, and I’m hoping this will help me to prepare for next season.”

Medvedev will be playing this event for the first time and said he decided to play after the good feedbck he received from his peers. “After seeing what the players experienced last year, I’m delighted to be joining for this season of the World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi. I’ve played several times in the UAE and always enjoy coming back, and I’m aiming to finish this year on a positive note there.”

The event will see players split into four teams (men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles) with the top two battling it out in the final.
