Monfils wants to go to see PSG-Inter in Munich, but it’s not that simple

Gaël Monfils does not know if his family obligations will allow him to attend PSG-Inter…

Gaël Monfils is a bit like French number one Arthur Fils: on Saturday evening, he would be unhappy about playing a night session at Roland-Garros while the whole of France will be watching PSG – Inter Milan, the Champions League final being played in Munich.

“I don’t have the same problems as Arthur…” Monfils said first, seemingly referring to his unseeded status, which exposes him, for example, to a second round against Jack Draper , world number 5, finalist in Madrid and quarter-finalist in Rome. “I know where I’ll be,” he then smiled, hinting that he would attend the final in Munich.

In reality, Gaël Monfils was mainly referring to… his marital status. Married to a tennis player, world number 13 Elina Svitolina , and a father, that doesn’t leave you free rein to do whatever you want on weekends…

MONFILS HAS “TWO ROLAND-GARROS” TO FOLLOW

“For now, I don’t have a ticket, but above all, we mustn’t forget that my wife is also playing, so it’s not just me,” Monfils clarified. “Having the ticket isn’t the problem. We have to see if I can go. There’s a tournament, mine, and there’s another tournament (his wife’s), so that’s the problem.”

Gaël Monfils, originally from Paris, is a declared PSG supporter. “PSG is the team I’ve always supported, ever since I was little,” he told the FIFA website. He has also been spotted at the Parc des Princes on several occasions.
