Nadal to be honoured with Roland-Garros ceremony

Rafael Nadal, Mary Pierce and Richard Gasquet will all have special tributes paid to them over the course of the fortnight

Rafael Nadal will be honoured with a special ceremony at Roland-Garros this year, the tournament have announced.

The man who won the clay Grand Slam 14 times will be celebrated on Court Philippe-Chatrier after the close of play on Sunday 25 May.

The tournament’s museum will also host an exhibition dedicated to the Spaniard.

Two others will also be celebrated over the course of the fortnight – Mary Pierce will be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame on Thursday 5 June, between the two women’s semi-finals, as Roland-Garros celebrates the 25th anniversary of her victory in both the women’s singles and doubles.

And after Richard Gasquet departs the famous clay for the final time in his retirement season, there will also be a special tribute paid to him.
