Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 9 seed, moved into the last 16 of Roland-Garros by defeating Serb Filip Krajinovic 7-6 [3], 7-6 [2], 7-5 on Friday afternoon.

Auger-Aliassime, ranked No 9, will face the winner of the next match between Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp, the No 26 seed, and Spaniard Rafael Nadal, the No 5 seed, next.

To reach this point, the 21-year-old Canadian overhauled Peruvian qualifier Juan Pablo Varillas Patino-Samudio (2-6, 2-6, 6-1, 6-3, 6-3) and won against Argentinian qualifier Camilo Ugo Carabelli (6-0, 6-3, 6-4).

Krajinovic, ranked No 55, won against American Reilly Opelka, the No 17 seed (7-6 [5], 6-2, 6-3) and Croat qualifier Borna Gojo (7-6 [5], 6-2, 5-7, 6-1) in the previous rounds of the French Open.
