Roland-Garros: Gauff wastes no time in defeating qualifier Valentova

American Coco Gauff, the second seed, advanced to the third round of Roland-Garros by winning against qualifier Tereza Valentova 6-2, 6-4 at Roland-Garros in Paris on Thursday.
Coco Gauff is the youngest player to reach the third round of the women’s singles at Roland Garros for five consecutive years (2021-2025) since Maria Sharapova (2004-2008).
Gauff, ranked No 2, will face Marie Bouzkova next.
The 21-year-old American defeated Australian Olivia Gadecki (6-2, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Valentova, ranked No 172, edged out French wildcard Chloe Paquet (4-6, 6-3, 7-5).
