Roland-Garros: Samsonova moves into last 16

Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 19 seed, advanced to the last 16 of Roland-Garros by winning against Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska 6-2, 6-3 on Friday.
She saved all ten break points she faced, and is into the second week of Roland-Garros for the first time in her career.
Samsonova, ranked No 18, will face Chinese Zheng Qinwen, the No 8 seed, next.
The Russian defeated Egyptian Mayar Sherif (7-6 (3), 6-2) and Spanish qualifier Leyre Romero Gormaz (6-3, 6-3) in the previous rounds.
Earlier in the tournament, Yastremska, ranked No 48, beat Australian wildcard Destanee Aiava (7-5, 6-1) and Russian Diana Shnaider, the No 11 seed (7-5, 7-5).
