German Alexander Zverev, the No 3 seed, beat Italian Flavio Cobolli 6-2, 7-6 (4), 6-1 to advance to the last 16 of Roland-Garros.
“The level was quite high in the second set. He was up twice with a break. I started feeling the heat a lot, but I was fighting. I was fighting through it. I was coming back all the time, and, you know, I’m happy of course to win the second set. I think that was very, very important. Also, I think it gave me a mental advantage in the third set in the beginning, and I kind of ran away with it. So I’m always happy with the outcome of that.” said Zverev during his press conference.
Zverev, ranked No 3, will face Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor next.
He has now reached the fourth round at Roland-Garros for eight years running, although he has still not yet won a Grand Slam title.
In the previous rounds of the Roland-Garros 2025, the German won against American Learner Tien (6-3, 6-3, 6-4) and Dutchman Jesper De Jong (3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-3).
