US Open: Djere breezes past Gaston to move into third round

Serb Laslo Djere, the No 32 seed, won against French qualifier Hugo Gaston 6-1, 6-2, 6-3 to move into the third round of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Djere, ranked No 38, will play the winner of the match between Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles and Serb Novak Djokovic, the second seed, next.

In the previous round of the Flushing Meadows tournament, the Serb beat American Brandon Nakashima (7-5, 6-4, 6-4).

Gaston, ranked No 99, defeated Japanese qualifier Sho Shimabukuro (6-2, 6-1, 7-6 (4)) in the first round of the Flushing Meadows tournament.
