US Open: In-form Garcia through to third round, losing 10 games in two matches

Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 17 seed, won against Russian Anna Kalinskaya 6-3, 6-1 to reach the third round of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City on Wednesday.

Garcia, ranked No 17, will face the winner of the match between Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 15 seed, and Canadian Bianca Andreescu next.

In the previous round of Flushing Meadows, the Frenchwoman defeated Russian lucky loser Kamilla Rakhimova (6-2, 6-4).

Kalinskaya, ranked No 60, won against Swede Rebecca Peterson (6-4, 6-3) in the previous round of the Flushing Meadows.
