US Open: Gauff, finds form (and emotional stability), dominates Frech to reach fourth round
Coco Gauff beat Magdalena Frech 6-3, 6-1 on Saturday

American Coco Gauff, the No. 3 seed, defeated Magdalena Frech of Poland, the No. 28 seed, 6-3, 6-1 on Saturday to reach the fourth round of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York. Gauff reaches the second week of the US Open for the fourth straight year.
Gauff, ranked No. 3 in the world, will next face the winner of the match between Australian Daria Kasatkina (No. 15 seed) and Japan’s Naomi Osaka (No. 23 seed).
This dominant victory comes after two difficult first-round matches for the 2023 champion, both on a tennis and emotional level. The 21-year-old American had previously beaten Croatian Donna Vekic (7-6 (5), 6-2), a match during which she broke into tears, and edged out Australian Ajla Tomljanovic (6-4, 6-7 (2), 7-5) earlier in the tournament.
Frech, ranked No. 30, performed at her expected level by reaching the third round. She had defeated American Peyton Stearns (6-7 (6), 6-3, 6-2) and Australian wildcard Talia Gibson (6-2, 6-2) to get there.
