US Open: Qualifier Gojo through to third round, beats McDonald

Croat qualifier Borna Gojo reached the third round of the US Open by winning against American Mackenzie McDonald 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Wednesday evening.

Gojo, ranked No 105, will play the winner of the match between Jiri Vesely and Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 20 seed, next.

Ahead of his victory, the Croat defeated Hugo Dellien (6-3, 6-3, 6-1).

McDonald, ranked No 40, edged out Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 15 seed (7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-1, 6-4) in the previous round of the Flushing Meadows tournament.
