US Open: Lehecka advances to third round

Czech Jiri Lehecka, the No 20 seed, edged out Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry 3-6, 6-0, 6-2, 6-4 to reach the third round of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Wednesday.

Lehecka, ranked No 21, will play the winner of the match between Belgian Raphael Collignon and Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 12 seed, next.

The Czech defeated Croat Borna Coric (3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5), 6-1) in the previous round of the US Open. Etcheverry, ranked No 59, won against Camilo Ugo Carabelli (6-3, 6-2, 6-0).
