Karolina Muchova beat Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 22 seed, 6-1, 6-4 to move into the last 4 of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Wednesday afternoon
Muchova, ranked No 52, will play the winner of the match between Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, and American Jessica Pegula, the No 6 seed, next.
Earlier in the tournament, Karolina Muchova won against American Katie Volynets (6-3, 7-5), Japanese wildcard Naomi Osaka (6-3, 7-6 (5)), Russian Anastasia Potapova (6-4, 6-2) and Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 5 seed (6-3, 6-3).
Haddad Maia, ranked No 21, defeated Armenian Elina Avanesyan (4-6, 6-0, 6-2), Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo (6-2, 6-1), Russian Anna Kalinskaya, the No 15 seed (6-3, 6-1) and Dane Caroline Wozniacki (6-2, 3-6, 6-3) in the previous rounds.
