Alert: Pegula defeats Muchova in US Open semi-finals
Jessica Pegula got the best of Karolina Muchova in an entertaining three-setter at the US Open on Thursday. Pegula is into the final against Aryna Sabalenka.

Jessica Pegula advanced to the final of the US Open by defeating Karolina Muchova 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Thursday night.
Pegula, ranked No 6, will face Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the second seed, for the title.
In the previous rounds, the American beat compatriots Shelby Rogers (6-4, 6-3) and Sofia Kenin (7-6 (4), 6-3), Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (6-3, 6-3), Russian Diana Shnaider, the No 18 seed (6-4, 6-2) and Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed (6-2, 6-4).
Muchova, ranked No 52, made her run by knocking off American Katie Volynets (6-3, 7-5), Japanese wild card Naomi Osaka (6-3, 7-6 (5)), Russian Anastasia Potapova (6-4, 6-2), Italian Jasmine Paolini, the No 5 seed (6-3, 6-3) and Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 22 seed (6-1, 6-4).
