De Minaur’s incredible record continues, into Bastide Medical UTS Nimes semi-final
Alex de Minaur is into the semi-finals and will face either Gael Monfils or Tomas Machac

Alex “The Demon” de Minaur got his sixth UTS match win in a row, defeating Ugo “The Commander” Humbert by three quarters to love, 15-14, 13-12, 17-9, to move into the semi-finals of the Bastide Medical UTS Nimes.
The Demon was battling not only Humbert but a noisy crowd who were behind the Frenchman.
But as one would expect from a two-time UTS champion, he focused on his game, and the first quarter statistics showed the importance of his serve – a serve percentage of 92 compared to Humbert’s 85, and 42 per cent of points won on his serve compared to Humbert’s 38. That was all despite Humbert being the only one of the two to succeed with playing his bonus card, and saving two quarter points as well.
It went down to a deciding point in the second quarter as well, at 12-12 on the De Minaur serve – and a wide forehand from Humbert handed him the quarter.
Humbert : “It was super close”
The Demon stretched his legs in the third quarter, seven points ahead when he got to quarter point, and hit a fantastic winner across the court that was just too good for Humbert.
“It’s not easy because I had the opportunities to win the two quarters,” Humbert said afterwards. “It was super close. We played great level during two quarters. And the third one was a little bit tough for me.”
De Minaur will face the winner of the match between Gael Monfils and Tomas Machac in the semi-final.
