UTS Oslo: Rublev’s unbeaten streak continues, defeats French Flair Pouille

Rublo won his third match of the weekend to go into the Final Four on a high

Andrey “Rublo” Rublev showed once more why he is such a dangerous player in the UTS format, beating Lucas “The French Flair” Pouille 18-14, 15-18, 20-9, 17-11.

It completed a clean sweep of three wins across the round-robin stage for the UTS Frankfurt champion.

Rublev went into the match knowing his place in the Final Four was assured and that he would be facing Alexander “The Bublik Enemy” Bublik on Sunday.

Pouille, for his part, was seeking an inaugural win in Oslo following his sudden-death defeat to compatriot Benoit Paire on Friday.

Rublev did drop his second quarter of the weekend, and Pouille pushed him to the finish line, preventing him from capitalising on his bonus card.

But ultimately Rublo was not to be denied – and continues to look to be on a collision course with home favourite Casper Ruud, also unbeaten thus far, in the final.
