Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the second seed, advanced to the final of Wimbledon by edging out American Taylor Fritz, the No 5 seed, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (6) at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Friday.
Alcaraz, ranked No 2, will play the winner of the match between Italian Jannik Sinner, the top seed, and Serb Novak Djokovic, the No 6 seed, next.
The 22-year-old Spaniard won against Englishman Cameron Norrie (6-2, 6-3, 6-3), Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 14 seed (6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4), German Jan-Lennard Struff (6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4), English qualifier Oliver Tarvet (6-1, 6-4, 6-4) and Italian Fabio Fognini (7-5, 6-7 (5), 7-5, 2-6, 6-1) in the previous rounds of The Championships.
Earlier in the tournament, Fritz, ranked No 5, defeated Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 17 seed (6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (4)), Australian Jordan Thompson (6-1, 3-0 ret.), Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the No 26 seed (6-4, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-1), Canadian Gabriel Diallo (3-6, 6-3, 7-6, 4-6, 6-3) and Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (6-7 (6), 6-7 (8), 6-4, 7-6 (6), 6-4).
