World No 2 Novak Djokovic was hit with a fine of £6,117 ($8,000) for breaking his racquet during the fifth set of his Wimbledon final loss to Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday.

The Serbian smashed his racket into the net during the fifth set of the match which saw Alcaraz hand Djokovic his first loss on Wimbledon’s Centre Court in 10 years.

At the time, Djokovic received a code violation from chair umpire Fergus Murphy for the act.

“There’s not much to talk about that,” Djokovic said when asked about the same in his press conference. (It) was frustration. I had break points in the second game. Just a tough, tough couple of points. He played amazing to break my serve, which was enough to win the fifth [set].”

“When asked again about the incident, Djokovic did not seem too keen to discuss the same, saying he had nothing more to add. “It was a frustration in the moment. I answered to your colleague two minutes ago about that. There’s not much to say about that.”
