Musetti hoping less is more as he returns from injury at Wimbledon
The Italian did not play a warm-up event after suffering a leg injury in the semis at Roland-Garros

Lorenzo Musetti is hoping that less proves to be more as he returns from injury at Wimbledon this fortnight.
The Italian has not played competitively since he was forced to retire in the fourth set of his semi-final with Carlos Alcaraz at Roland-Garros with a leg issue, but says he is ready to begin his campaign.
“I didn’t play much, honestly,” he told reporters at Wimbledon on Sunday. “It’s been tough, of course, after French Open to don’t play any tournament before Wimbledon, to prepare the grass season. But the important thing is to stay healthy and to be healthy enough to play, so here we are.
“Basically I stayed without touching any racquet two full weeks, but the important thing was doing therapies and rehabilitation every day. Let’s say I didn’t take as a vacation the two weeks.
“I worked hard as I could to be ready and to be fast enough to recover for be ready to be playing here. I arrived here on Monday, so let’s say one week of training, which was a little bit not really one week because I was sick a little bit two days…but at least we are here. We finally are here and close enough to start and to debut.”
“The positive thing is I spent some time with my family”
Having established himself in the top 10, Musetti is looking to take the next step at the majors by reaching his first final. And even if he doesn’t have the miles of practice in his legs, he seems mentally refreshed.
“I wanted to be, let’s say, more prepared for Wimbledon this year,” he said. “I have semi-final to defend. It’s an important stage of the season, which I wanted to do great and to continue the great form that I showed in the last months.
“But I think also the positive thing is I spend some time with my family. So if I have to see the positive and the negative things, I will go more with the positive ones and try to spend time with the family, spend time with my closest friends, and enjoy a little bit of Italy, which was a long time since I was not going there.
“Hopefully this kind of time that I spend home, it’s gave me an extra motivation to do well and to try to defend my semi-final here in Wimbledon.”
