No 6 seed Novak Djokovic won against Miomir Kecmanovic 6-3, 6-0, 6-4 to reach the last 16 of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Saturday evening.

The victory is the Serb’s 100th at the grass-court Grand Slam, just behind the Roger Federer’s men’s all-time record of 105.

Djokovic has now reached 17 fourth rounds at Wimbledon, including at all of the last eight editions of the tournament.

Djokovic: “I try not to take anything for granted”

“Very historic, it sounds very nice, I’m very grateful, obviously privileged to be in the position that I am,” the 24-time Grand Slam champion responded, when told of the record.

“I’ve said it many times, tennis made me who I am, has given me incredible things in life that I can experience.

“I try not to take anything for granted, particularly at this age, still going strong, still trying to compete with the young players and do some slides and some splits on the court and push myself to the limit.

“Well, look, Wimbledon is the favourite tournament and dream tournament of not just myself but probably the majority of tennis players growing up.

“Most dream of winning here. I’ve been lucky enough to win many times. Any history that I make in my favourite tournament, I’m blessed.”

Djokovic, ranked No 6, will play Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 11 seed, next.

Novak Djokovic beat English wildcard Daniel Evans (6-3, 6-2, 6-0) and Frenchman Alexandre Muller (6-1, 6-7 (7), 6-2, 6-2) in the previous rounds of The Championships.

Earlier in the tournament, Kecmanovic, ranked No 49, edged out Dutchman Jesper De Jong (1-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4) and defeated American Alex Michelsen, the No 30 seed (6-2, 3-6, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (6)).
