Wimbledon: Galan through to last 16 for first time in a Major, Sinner next

Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan won against Swede Mikael Ymer 6-2, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-1 to advance to the last 16 of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Friday afternoon.

Galan, ranked No 85, will play Italian Jannik Sinner, the No 8 seed, next.

The Colombian beat Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka, the No 24 seed (6-4, 6-3, 6-3) and edged out German qualifier Oscar Otte (6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (3)) in the previous rounds of The Championships.

Ymer, ranked No 59, defeated Slovak Alex Molcan (6-3, 6-3, 6-4) and overhauled the situation against American Taylor Fritz, the No 9 seed (3-6, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2).
