Wimbledon: Linette through to third round, gets Bencic next

Pole Magda Linette, the No 23 seed, reached the third round of Wimbledon by winning against Barbora Strycova 6-4, 6-7 (6), 6-3 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Thursday afternoon.

The world No 24 is into the third round at Wimbledon for the third time in her last four appearances. She is 7-2 at the majors this year, after reaching her maiden Grand Slam semi-final at the Australian Open in January.

Linette, ranked No 24, will face Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 14 seed, next.

In the previous round of The Championships, the Pole beat Swiss Jil Teichmann (6-3, 6-2).

Barbora Strycova defeated Belgian Maryna Zanevska (6-1, 7-5) in the previous round of The Championships.
