Wimbledon: Musetti advances to third round, plays Hurkacz next

Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 14 seed, reached the third round of Wimbledon by beating Spaniard Jaume Munar 6-4, 6-3, 6-1 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Thursday.

“Yeah, I mean, I think today was a really solid performance from the beginning,” reflected Musetti after the match’s conclusion.

“I think Jaume is really a great player who can really take off all the passion that you have inside, and because he’s really a fighter and he never dies. So I knew that from the beginning and probably was the key of this match.”

Musetti, ranked No 16, will face Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 17 seed, next.

The 21-year-old Italian won against Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas (6-3, 6-1, 7-5) ahead of his victory.

In the previous round of The Championships, Munar, ranked No 109, edged out American John Isner (4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4).
