Russian Diana Shnaider, the No 3 seed, won against American Alycia Parks 6-3, 7-6 (8) to move into the final of the Abierto GNP Seguros on Friday night.
It is the sixth time in her career that Diana Shnaider has reached a final on the WTA Tour.
Shnaider, ranked No 22, will face the winner of the match between Czech Marie Bouzkova and Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the second seed, next.
The 21-year-old Russian edged out Belgian Elise Mertens, the No 5 seed (3-6, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (4)) and defeated Kamilla Rakhimova (7-6 (3), 6-1) in the previous rounds.
Earlier in the tournament, Parks, ranked No 71, beat Slovak Rebecca Sramkova (6-2, 7-5), top seed Emma Navarro (4-6, 6-3, 6-2) and Spanish qualifier Cristina Bucsa (6-2, 6-1).
