Australian Maya Joint, the No 8 seed, won against French wildcard Elsa Jacquemot 6-3, 6-4 to reach the last 16 of the WTA $125K Abierto Tampico on Monday.
Joint, ranked No 110, will face the winner of the match between Pole Maja Chwalinska and American Hanna Chang next.
