Russian Anastasia Tikhonova advanced to the last 16 of the WTA $125K Abierto Tampico by defeating Croat Antonia Ruzic 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-3 on Tuesday.
Tikhonova, ranked No 189, will play the winner of the match between Russian Anna Blinkova, the No 5 seed, and Slovak Veronika Erjavec next.
