American Coco Gauff, the No 4 seed, won against Pole Iga Swiatek, the second seed, 6-1, 6-1 to reach the final of the Madrid Open at the Caja Mágica on Thursday.

Gauff, ranked No 4, will play the winner of the match between Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the top seed, and Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the No 17 seed, next.

The 21-year-old American beat Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska (0-6, 6-2, 7-5), Ann Li (6-2, 6-3), Swiss Belinda Bencic (6-4, 6-2) and Russian Mirra Andreeva, the No 7 seed (7-5, 6-1) ahead of her victory.

Earlier in the tournament, Swiatek, ranked No 2, defeated Filipino wildcard Alexandra Eala (4-6, 6-4, 6-2), No 31 seed Linda Noskova (6-4, 6-2), Russian Diana Shnaider, the No 13 seed (6-0, 6-7 (3), 6-4) and American Madison Keys, the No 5 seed (0-6, 6-3, 6-2).
