Alize Cornet to come out of retirement: “You thought you’d got rid of me but you haven’t”
The 35-year-old retired after Roland-Garros last year but will return to the Tour in Rouen next month

She’s back already! Alizé Cornet, who retired after a ceremony on Court Philippe Chatrier at Roland-Garros last year, has decided that retirement is not for her. The Frenchwoman will therefore be back on the circuit as early as next month, having secured an invitation to the main draw of the Rouen tournament (April 12-20).”
“I’m extremely happy to be back on the courts of the Open Capfinances Rouen Métropole for what is for me a very exciting return to competition. When I started training again two months ago, I immediately had this objective in mind – to be ready for Rouen – and I’d like to thank Charles (Roche, the tournament director) for giving me this chance to enter the final draw directly. You thought you’d got rid of me, but you haven’t! So I’ll see you very soon and we’ll all be thrilled again,” she announced on Monday in a tournament press release.
Cornet, 35, had not withdrawn her name from the rankings despite announcing her retirement, and is now ranked 523rd singles in the WTA rankings.
The Frenchwoman has won six singles titles and more than $10 million in her career.
