Andorrà Open: Bassols Ribera upsets Cornet to reach final

Spaniard Marina Bassols Ribera, the No 6 seed, defeated Frenchwoman Alize Cornet, the No 8 seed, 6-4, 6-2 to move into the final of the Andorrà Open at Polideportivo de Andorra in Andorre.
Bassols Ribera, ranked No 145, will face Russian Erika Andreeva next.
The Spaniard won against German Noma Noha Akugue (6-3, 7-5), Russian Ekaterina Reyngold (6-3, 6-2) and Latvian wildcard Anastasija Sevastova (2-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Andorrà tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Cornet, ranked No 118, won against Cagla Buyukakcay (1-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3), Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz (6-1, 2-6, 6-1) and Dane Clara Tauson, the second seed (6-3, 6-4).
