Andorrà Open: Bassols Ribera sets up semi-final against Cornet

Spaniard Marina Bassols Ribera, the No 6 seed, edged out Latvian wildcard Anastasija Sevastova 2-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4 to advance to the semi-finals of the Andorrà Open at Polideportivo de Andorra in Andorre on Friday evening.

Bassols Ribera, ranked No 145, will face Frenchwoman Alize Cornet, the No 8 seed, next.

The Spaniard won against German Noma Noha Akugue (6-3, 7-5) and Russian Ekaterina Reyngold (6-3, 6-2) ahead of her victory.

In the previous rounds of the Andorrà tournament, Anastasija Sevastova beat Spaniard Irene Burillo Escorihuela (6-7 (6), 6-2, 6-1) and edged out Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska, the No 4 seed (6-7 (3), 6-1, 6-4).
