Andreeva sets up quarter-final against Gauff in Madrid

Russian Mirra Andreeva, the No 7 seed, won against Ukrainian qualifier Yuliia Starodubtseva 6-1, 6-4 to move into the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open at the Caja Mágica on Monday.
Andreeva, ranked No 7, will face American Coco Gauff, the No 4 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the 18-year-old Russian defeated Marie Bouzkova (6-3, 6-4) and Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 27 seed (7-5, 6-3).
Starodubtseva, ranked No 99, won against wildcard Linda Fruhvirtova (6-2, 6-2), Italian lucky loser Elisabetta Cocciaretto (7-6 (5), 6-4) and Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 18 seed (2-6, 7-6 (2), 6-0) in the previous rounds of the Madrid tournament.
