Antalya Open: Hercog moves into quarter-finals

Slovenian Polona Hercog beat Hungarian Timea Babos 6-1, 7-6 (5) to advance to the last 8 of the Antalya Open at the Megasaray Tennis Academy on Thursday night.

Hercog, ranked No 213, will play the winner of the match between Croat Tara Wurth and Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, the No 4 seed, next.

Ahead of her victory, the 33-year-old Slovenian won against No 6 seed Sara Bejlek (7-6 (5), 6-3).

Babos, ranked No 182, defeated wildcard Ipek Oz (6-3, 7-6 (3)) in the previous round of the Antalya tournament.
