Austin Open: Wang beats Semenistaja to reach last eight

Chinese Xiyu Wang, the No 6 seed, defeated Latvian Darja Semenistaja 6-1, 6-2 to advance to the last 8 of the Austin Open at the Westwood Country Club.
Wang, ranked No 64, will play the winner of the match between No 3 seed Danielle Collins and wildcard Katie Volynets next.
In the previous round of the Austin tournament, the 22-year-old Chinese won against Argentinian Nadia Podoroska (7-5, 6-4).
Semenistaja, ranked No 115, edged out Andorran wildcard Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva (6-7 (2), 6-2, 6-4) in the previous round of the Austin tournament.
